Artist's Statement
Barbara Landry
My body of work ranges from abstract to representational. I feel a sheer wonder in nature and painting gives me that connection. I paint to capture the essence of the subject and approach every new painting with the freedom to allow myself to change style and expression. When asked how I address each new subject, Van Gough said it perfectly, "I dream my painting and paint my dream."
A Florida artist with New England roots.... art always had a place in her everyday life. Barbara's mother was an antique decorative artist and instructor. This exposure inspired and nurtured her love of art and thus her career path. As an awarding winning artist and founding partner of Gallery 14 her paintings can be seen in permanent collections in the Florida State Capital, the Superior Courthouse of Yolo County California, Indian River Estates/ACTS Retirement Life Communities in Vero Beach and Palm Beach, PNC Bank Offices, and many other commercial buildings and private collections. She was a contributing artist for the Turtle Trax project, which benefited the Mental Health Association. The charitable honor she is most proud of is being chosen the Easter Seal Stamp Artist for two of their fundraising campaigns and most recently her animal art was selected for the Washington, DC, Art Impact International Campaign "The Endangered, Can We Save Them?".
